Legal — medical useSwitzerland permits the medical use of cannabis under the Narcotics Act. Patients can access cannabis-based medicines through a prescription from their treating physician, as the previous requirement for an exceptional license from the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) was removed on August 1, 2022.

- No federal exceptional license is required for medical prescriptions since August 2022.
- Home cultivation for personal medical use remains prohibited.
