Bermuda allotment

AllotmentVery limited access

There is no standard allotment for the general public. Patients granted a specific medical exemption by the authorities may be permitted to access a defined quantity of medical cannabis as determined by their case-by-case approval, with some historical reports of import limits being set at 2,000 grams per year for specific authorized pathways.

  • No legal allotment exists for the general public; possession of any amount remains technically illegal outside of specific medical exemptions.
  • Patients with a court-sanctioned or physician-led exemption may access specific quantities as authorized by their individual license.
  • Home growing is not permitted.
  • Personal importation of cannabis is strictly prohibited.

Cannabis law in Bermuda

Limited access

Bermuda currently operates under a restricted framework where cannabis remains a controlled substance under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1972. Patients may access medical cannabis through a narrow, case-by-case exemption process facilitated by a licensed physician, as no comprehensive national medical cannabis programme is currently fully operational.

  • Cannabis is classified as a controlled drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1972.
  • There is no fully established national medical cannabis dispensary system; access is limited to specific medical exemptions.
  • Direct importation of cannabis by individual patients is prohibited.
  • Possession of 7 grams or less of cannabis has been decriminalized, but this does not constitute legalization for medical or recreational use.
