Official Program

Texas's Compassionate Use Program is administered by the Department of Public Safety under the Texas Compassionate-Use Act (SB 339, 2015). The program permits low-THC cannabis (≤0.5% THC by weight) for patients with qualifying conditions; the qualifying-condition list has since been expanded to over 100 conditions. Only licensed dispensaries (CUPs) may dispense. Smokable cannabis and personal cultivation are NOT permitted.
